As a small agency, we have to be very strategic about where we invest our time. As individuals, we have a shared passion for wanting to develop others, as well as give back to our local communities.
Our new partnership with ProDev has given us the opportunity to do both! On May 9th, the second ProDev Day was held at ATLAS Workbase. This quarterly, conference style event celebrates ALL professionals with learning and networking opportunities with free co-working all day long.
3C moved our Practice Your Pitch (PYP) event from Thursday evening, so we could be a part of the festivities. This was the most attended PYP so far. We covered things like power poses to curb stage fright and how to ensure your messaging is audience-focused and benefit-led.
We heard from job-seekers, founders, and people making a difference in the world through consulting and non-profit work. One common thread, we kept coming back to in the one-on-one sessions was qualifying questions – gaining context on the other person’s knowledge before jumping into your pitch.
The next PYP will be June 14th at The Riveter Fremont at 6 p.m. Please RSVP so we provide enough snacks.
Christina from our team is also now an organizer for 1 Million Cups Seattle – a weekly event that brings entrepreneurs and the Seattle community together over coffee and conversations.
The launch was extremely successful with over 30 people gathered to hear Bill Sechter’s story about co-founding Atlas Workbase. Three pieces of advice he gave for entrepreneurs:
Pursue something you’re passionate about.
Identify your strengths and lean into them.
Partner with people whose strengths and passions supplement your weaknesses.
1 Million Cups will be meeting every Wednesday at 9 a.m. at ATLAS Workbase. Join them if you're an entrepreneur or want to support the entrepreneurial Community here in Seattle. You may also apply to present here.
3C’s team stayed busy throughout the day with one-on-ones about messaging so we missed the job fair, lunch and learn, and other workshops. We’re sorry we did. Everybody was buzzing about them!
Of course, everybody seemed to enjoy the happy hour, but how could you not enjoy free drinks and snacks while networking with like-minded people?
Founders Live’s Nick Hughes interviewed Amber Osborne, Doghead Simulations CMO, to wrap up the day. The insightful fireside chat was filled with marketing and branding nuggets like:
Be consistent with who you are and what you do, and let that speak for you. Your physical appearance is only a sliver of your overall brand.
Learn about it, be cautious, and grow with it, but don't be afraid of new technology.
Don't take the bait from trolls. If false information is being spread about you, especially online, going on the defense will only hurt you. The right the people who truly matter will know the truth.
And, just like that 13 hours had gone by!
There was a ton of activity and connections being made. We can’t wait for the next one. Thanks, ProDev and Young Professionals of Seattle!
